Research Project

Ki Chang Ahn

Development, improvement, and application of immunoassays for pesticidal, industrial, and personal care toxic compounds.  Development of sample preparation methods for the application of immunoassay to environmental and human samples, and luminescent particle-based biosensor works with other groups.  Biological and toxicological study of personal care antimicrobials triclocarban and triclosan.  Study of permethrin metabolism in human subjects and human exposure to pyrethroid insecticides.

Shirley Gee

Development and application of antibody-based methods for the detection of small molecules.  Antibody production, assay development, validation, immunoaffinity chromatography, interfacing immunoassays with classical sample preparation schemes.  Development of novel antibody-based methods such as with  the accelerator mass spectrometer and near-infrared dyes as labels.  Application of immunoassays to exposure assessment.  Administrative: General laboratory management, safety, chemical & equipment inventory, grant & manuscript writing and laboratory personnel training and supervision.

George Kamita

Fundamental and applied studies of the role of juvenile hormone-specific esterases in insect development, and insecticide detoxification enzymes in mosquitoes.

Joszef Lango

Manager of SF Analytical MS Laboratory.

Ayala Luria

Oxylipin profile, gene array and biochemistry.  Regulatory mechanism of she.  Molecular signaling of sEH in inflammatory disease and hypertension.

Christophe Morisseau

Study the role of epoxide hydrolases in biology and xenobiotics metabolism. Toward this purpose, study their mechanism of action, develop specific inhibitors and design fluorescent reporter assay; as well as studying the kinetic of hydrolysis of natural substrates. All of these mainly in mammals; but also in other organism such as chicken or bacteria.  Study the role of the phosphatase activity of sEH.

James Sanborn

Synthesis of haptens for use in immunochemical analyses. The preparation of haptens for analysis of chlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins by ELISA.

Donald Stoutamire

Synthesis of haptens to be used for the development of immunoassay for pesticides.  Synthesis directed towards haptens for the synthetic pyrethroid insecticides.  Synthesis of haptens for the phosphate insecticides acephate and methamidophos, and dioxin.
